The cream of Australia’s downhill skateboard and luge riders gathered in the tropical heat of Townsville, home to The Great Barrier Reef , for a weekend of thrashing themselves on the steep and winding Mt Stuart road.
For the most part there was no competition; this was a charity freeride to raise money for prostate cancer; the “bastard” that has to be beaten.
And beatings were the order of the weekend as all riders took some hits on a road that challenged everybody. It started with a high-speed section leading into a right-hander with shiny new Armco just waiting to tear up bodies. It then continued to wind itself down the mountain into to a hard left immediately followed by a massive high-speed sweeping right hander that spat riders out at maximum speed.
The Scandinavians continue to give the Aussies a fight with Haggy Strom coming in at 4th and Jonatan Lundmark from Dampling at 8th place.

The downhill skateboard event- Gold Coast Outlaw- went off this weekend in Australia. The underground event started off in true Aussie style with beers and BBQ but the good vibes where soon to be washed away with heavy rain and angry police banning the event. So after a wet slide session followed by a wild night the riders met up at a new location with dry streets, blue skies and no police to be seen.
The level of riding was high and the fastest skaters where reaching speeds up to 90 km! Encore amigo Jonatan Lundmark from Dampling Productions finished on a solid 4th place. The Swedes have been representing lately and have been on the podium the last 3 longboards comps in Australia.
With the lovely spring approaching Encore will soon release their longboard collection. New for this year is the Dampling signature model.
