goldcoast outlaw

goldcoast
The downhill skateboard event- Gold Coast Outlaw- went off this weekend in Australia. The underground event started off in true Aussie style with beers and BBQ but the good vibes where soon to be washed away with heavy rain and angry police banning the event. So after a wet slide session followed by a wild night the riders met up at a new location with dry streets, blue skies and no police to be seen.
The level of riding was high and the fastest skaters where reaching speeds up to 90 km! Encore amigo Jonatan Lundmark from Dampling Productions finished on a solid 4th place. The Swedes have been representing lately and have been on the podium the last 3 longboards comps in Australia.
With the lovely spring approaching Encore will soon release their longboard collection. New for this year is the Dampling signature model.

coast of chile

Sebastian reports from South america:
Punta lobos point break in Chile got world recognition in 2006 when footage appeared of local charger Diego Medina paddeling in to some huge waves . He later that year won the big wave xxl billabong award.

When i  arrived at the crack of dawn to Punta lobos, standing at the top of the cliffs looking out i was greeted by an empty long reeling left hander. Now the big question was how to get out to the peak..
I ended up paddeling through a channel of seaweed, surging water and white wash and climbing up on  small island and walking across it and jumping in from the side between a set.
In the bottom turn of my first wave i look up and realize its double over head. Never judge abook by its cover, or a wave standing on at the top of a cliff he he..

With seagulls and seals and sealions and icecream headaches and super long waves Chile lived it up!
